Biography

Jessica Kizzire (PhD) has taught music history, music appreciation, American popular music, and video game listening courses at Greenville University and the University of New Haven. She currently works as a subject matter expert at Outlier.org.

Jessica's research focuses on the intersection of music and narrative in popular media, including film and video games. Her work has explored the ways music has been used to invoke nostalgia in the Final Fantasy series, as well as Fallout 3. She also studies the role of music in adaptations. She is the author of “‘The Place I’ll Return to Someday’: Musical Nostalgia in Final Fantasy IX,” published in Music in Video Games: Studying Play (Routledge, 2014).
