Biography

Kyle Gassiott (MA) is a journalist with over 15 years of radio, print, web, and television experience at the national level, as well as medium and small markets. In his current position, Kyle is a news director and frequent host for Troy Public Radio’s local broadcast of NPR News programs (Montgomery/Troy, Alabama). As such, he supervises: the news division, a daily talk show, underwriting, development/fundraising, programming, operations, the radio reading program, and an internship program. Kyle also serves as executive producer and guest host for the award-winning show and podcast In Focus with Carolyn Hutcheson.  

Kyle's work as a reporter and producer has been heard on: All Things ConsideredMorning EditionUp FirstWeekend Edition Saturday, Weekend Edition SundayHere & NowMarketplace, the BBC, and frequently on NPR's Hourly Newscast. He has produced and reported investigative stories for ABC News that were broadcast on Good Morning America and contributed to enterprise stories that aired on Nightline. In July of 2020 he covered funeral services for Congressman John Lewis in Selma, AL for DW News

As a print and web journalist, Kyle has written and contributed to stories for NPR.org and ABCNews.com. His primary training is in investigative and political reporting with a solid foundation in producing arts and cultural features. Kyle has also worked in the performing arts as both an administrator and classical musician.
