Cody Norling recently started a new position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Musicology at West Virginia University, where he will be teaching the music history sequence as well as graduate seminars in musicology, and general-education courses in music. He is excited to work with WVU’s graduate students in musicology and to explore life in Morgantown.

Cody completed his dissertation at Iowa in 2023, and continues his work on American opera histories in Chicago and the greater Midwest. His work has appeared in American Music and Journal of Musicological Research as well as edited volumes in the fields of music and history.
