Congratulations to Rebekah Erdman and Zane Larson, who successfully defended their doctoral dissertations! You can read their work at Iowa Research Online:

Rebekah Erdman, “Liminal Landscapes: Women Composing Pastoralism in Twentieth-Century Britain”

Zane Larson, “Behind the Masc: Performing Masculinity in Dogfight, Dear Evan Hansen, and Hadestown”

Even before completing her dissertation, Rebekah began an assistantship to manage and update access to Iowa’s celebrated Ignaz Pleyel Early Editions Collection. This work blends her musicological studies with pursuit of a Masters in Library and Information Science at Iowa. She has already presented on her work on the Pleyel collection at regional and international conferences.

Shortly after graduating, Zane was appointed Assistant Director of Experiential Education at the University of Chicago. The recipient of a teaching award from Iowa, Zane is now applying his experience in course development and mentoring to student programs and internships hosted at U Chicago.

We’re tremendously grateful for Zane and Rebekah’s leadership in the musicology program and excited for the new paths they are now pursuing!
