In early April, graduate student scholars, composers, and performers from across the country gathered at Voxman to share research, music, and camaraderie for the 28th annual Midwest Graduate Music Consortium conference. PhD musicology students Rebekah Erdman and Zane Larson hosted the two-day gathering, which included five paper sessions, two concerts, and a keynote presentation from Dr. Eric Saylor of Drake University. Iowa students served in a variety of roles, including presenters (Adrian Gronseth, Jeff Martin, Canlin Qiu, Orson Sproule, Maria Torres-Melgares), session chairs (Kristen Ronning, Zane, Rebekah), composers (Qing Xu) and performers (Kevin Swenson, Kristen Ronning, and Dr. Jean-François Charles). This marks the second time that Iowa-- a recent member of MGMC-- has hosted the conference. A hearty thanks to everyone who contributed and attended!
